What the heck does microNOC mean?
microNOC is (obviously) a made up name, but with some meaning behind it. To understand what it comes from you need to understand what NOC means. A NOC is a Network Operating Center, or Network Operations Center. These are the big rooms full of screens, flashing lights and people talking in hushed tones that you see on TV and in the movies. microNOC is designed to do a subset of what those giant centers do - monitor your web site, email server and a couple other minor things. But microNOC does those few things to the same professional standards that a large operations center does. After all, we've built and operated full sized, redundant, secure NOC's ourselves.
